Meeting: Mondays at noon
Colonial Room, 1st St, Sanford, FL
OUR HISTORY
Colonial George W. Knight came to Sanford following his discharge from the Army after World War I (He received the Medal of Valor). Col. Knight was formerly a Rotarian in New Jersey and missed the fellowship he enjoyed as a Rotarian.
Originally he started an organization called "Club 13", inviting a number of respected businessmen from diverse vocations to participate.
A short time later, the Orlando Rotary Club sent Ken Guernsey to investigage Sanford's Club 13, who highly recommended it for Rotary charter. On May 10, 1921, The Sanford Rotary Club was chartered.
